Hello friends and neighbors,
Thank you for taking the time to check out my campaign site.
As a 46-year resident of Pleasanton, I’ve built my life here with my high school sweetheart, Kimberly, and raised two wonderful children. After over 30 years with the city, including 12 years as a Police Captain and my final role as Acting Police Chief during the height of the COVID crisis, I am deeply committed to our community.
I have served on the boards of Pleasanton Police Officers Charitable Foundation, Pleasanton Chamber Foundation, and served 8 years at Hope Hospice, 6 as the board President. I am on the Pleasanton Community of Character Board, promoting character values in our community for the past 12 years and am currently the President of the board.
I have a deep-rooted value system that is focused on integrity, honesty, respect, responsibility, compassion and self-discipline while supporting my community as a servant leader.
Currently, the City of Pleasanton is facing a structural budget crisis and is proposing a half-percent sales tax increase. I believe in responsible budgeting that doesn’t burden individuals or businesses struggling to make ends meet. Our city leaders need to prioritize better, and support planned residential and business developments to strengthen our economy, allowing us to maintain our infrastructure without asking for more from our community.
I support our Public Safety personnel and want them to have the equipment, tools, training and facilities to be able to do their jobs in the service of our community. I expect them to be supported by their leadership and fairly compensated to reduce the cycle of turnover they have experienced during the past 4 years.
I’m also concerned about our water supply. Recently, the city council authorized a 30% water rate increase without a clear plan for revenue use and failed to explain how this figure was determined. They permitted pumping from PFAS-contaminated wells last summer and have taken too long to address this issue. After five years, they’re finally drilling a new test well, while three wells remain shut down due to contamination. Our leaders should have prioritized a clear plan for rehabilitating these wells and treating PFAS. I will focus on restoring Pleasanton’s wells and ensuring a clean water supply for our future.
Let’s get Pleasanton back on track by electing new leadership committed to fixing problems, fiscal responsibility and the successful future of our community. Together, we can create a brighter tomorrow, starting today.
Craig
